More time in drawing + More time in colouring = Better picture.

I hope you all enjoy it. I did the soft colouring as told. I added a bit of texture to Tako-san. It was just some bubble pattern on Adobe Photoshop 7.

The sparkles on Tako-san are just pale spots set to Pin-Light in layers. The big sparkles are a brush set to different sizes and paleness. So I hope that is more than enough sparkles. I made them to frame Chamomile.

The background arcs were some veritical lines I distorted with Polar thing in Filters. It looks like a fountain to me. Water theme background!! The rest of the background is just flat light grey with a transparent to light blue gradient over it.

Soft colouring is a pain, but worth it. Chamomile's hair had several layers and I did some hairlines with a burn tool, but you can hardly see them WAH!! :( Smugded a lot of the hair as well. I quite happy with the face shading. I had a go at doing that half of the face shading before but I didn't like it. I like this one. Two ranges of shadow and one highlight, but you can't see much of it. But it has an effect under the left eye and the forehead. I don't like the hands that much but hey I have to start somewhere.

The dress, arrgh the dress. Most of the shading I had no idea about. I just picked one side of the lines and coloured there. It worked for most of it. The dress and hat also have a gradient, same as the background actually, light blue. One layer of shadows done first then I just copied the layer and did a big blur on the copied layer. Highlights were just white.

My colouring is light because this is my style. I don't like the ultra constrast pieces. Damn it... I think I've been turned to the soft colouring side. Arrggh.

Tako-san has a great expression I think. He looks mad. "Arrgh get off my head!!!".

The suckers have an area of pink multiplied over a yellow and the base colour of a peach orange colour.

Ok I think I have written enough. Tell me what you think now.


P.S These characters are from the Manga "Puchimon" of which I am a fan of the cute style characters.

wow, really awsum, I like the grey-blue gradient you used on the background, totally gives the pic a watery misty feel. The shading on her skin is great, and those spots on the octo's tentacles give it a nice touch, but i expected the octo to look more wet and slimy-ish, besides that, it's still good coloring, well done ! :D

I didn't know how to do the slimy-ish look. But I tried the wet. The dots are meant to be waterdrops. Like the reflected light off the waterdrops. Ah well it was a discovery. I learned some new things playing around.

Haha! Much better now with those colors; very shiny also! :D I can't really criticize your paint technic, 'couse I don't really understand about it. :P But well..I liked the effects in general. The only thing that I think you need to work on is the shadows on the characters. For now, just that. :D Congratulations!

I wanted to have a contrast between Tako-san and the rest of the picture. So orange to blue and grey. It worked well.
